I came across this feeling recently. I went for a walk with my husband after a day’s work. We were completely free because our 10 year old boy was on a sleepover in his friend’s house.
We talked away along the walk. After 1.5 hour, I realised we were walking on the main road, and it looks like my husband has his own walk route to keep walking on the main road to get back home. I was tired by that stage and I didn’t like to continue to walk on the main road with nothing to see except cars passing by.
I could feel my anxiety, anxiousness, and frustration coming up. (in the back of my mind I was ready to take over. My husband is only thinking about himself. he should ask me first whether I like this walk or not, or we could have gone for a different walk route etc.)
I decided to choose an action which can keep my positive energy high, and don’t get negative thoughts taking over. The results were amazing. I enjoyed and was pleased with this long walk because I overcame my physical tiredness and mental chatters. The loving relationship with my husband wasn’t affected at all. We had a lovely conversation later in the night when he was drinking his wine and I was eating my fruit and peanuts.
